Are modern gamers too young for this comedy classic? It seems not! Though there’s no doubt that the comics are not quite the staple reading they were back in the 1980s, it seems the charm and affection people have for Asterix and Obelix has not gone away.
From developers Mr Nutz Studio, comes a new side-scrolling beat ’em up that looks so faithful to the original drawings of René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo that it’s bound to have fans of the series smiling. It’s all been hand-drawn to be as respectful to the source material as possible—and you can tell.
Plus, it looks like there’s no messing about with the content, either. Asterix was always a series that centred on the little Gaul’s ability to beat up Romans, and the game is set to do exactly the same. Excellent. Of course, he’s joined by his loyal best friend, Obelix, meaning you can sit on the sofa and be helped in the action by your own best friend (or husband, girlfriend, sibling or dog…). Nothing like a bit of retro-style co-op play to make an evening fly by!
Asterix and Obelix: Slap them All! will be out in the latter half of 2021 for all major consoles and Switch.
