Anyone who’s a fan of the critically acclaimed weird and wacky shooter, Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare, will be very happy to hear that free downloadable content is available via the Garden Variety Pack. The Garden Variety Pack brings a massive list of new features to Plants vs Zombies with an all new 8v8 “Gnome Bomb” game mode, 24 new customisation options for your loadout and an all new map, Chomp Town. The Garden Variety Pack is available to download completely free, that’s right free, from Tuesday 18th March on Xbox One and Xbox 360. It’s great to see a game that was only launched in February being extended with proper content, game modes, assets and a map is how all DLC should be!

The 24 new features available to customise loadouts are split 8 ways, 3 for each class and include Sunflower’s Solar Flare Beam, Chomper’s Super Goop which cements zombies in place and the All-Star Zombie’s Ultra Tackle. The Garden Variety pack introduces the explosive new game mode, Gnome Bomb, which requires Pants and Zombies to work together to destroy heavily fortified gardens and graveyards. The new map, Chomp Town, gives players the opportunity to explore a new fun filled environment that introduces a new breed of Pirate Zombie that includes the likes of the Map Pirate Zombie, defending himself with a Treasure Map in Sharkbite Shores and Port Scallywag.

For any of you who are familiar with the Battlefield 4 game engine, you’ll feel very familiar with Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare which is powered by the same Frostbite 3 engine. While not for everyone, Plants vs Zombies brilliantly coloured and blossoming terrains are absolutely stunning, all rendered in fantastic 3D detail. Plants vs Zombies makes no bones about it’s roots of fun, funny and fantastic!
