Resident Evil Village Comes Ever Closer

Capcom is keen to give people the opportunity to take a look at the new Resident Evil Village game (effectively Resident Evil 8), but only if you are in the right place at the right time. This weekend saw the PlayStation community get a second short demo of the latest game in the series—so what did it tell us?

Firstly, it looks fantastic. Environmental textures are rich, character designs are detailed, and the lighting provides a suitably gloomy look, with strangely warm candlelit rooms a counterpoint to dank corridors.

The combat is intensive, with enemies reacting to where and how they are damaged with almost unnerving realism—watch them stumble when shot in the knee, for example. Running away in panic will likely get you cornered, and the tension will have you shouting in fear across your living room!

There are plenty of secret things to find and puzzles to work out, too, ensuring the game has something for every type of player.

All-in-all, it’s looking really good and with only a couple of weeks to go, should be one for the calendar.

Resident Evil Village is out for Xbox One / Series X/S, PS4/5 and PC from 7th May.
